THE Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) will be hosting informative pre-retirement workshops during this year’s Annual Ongwediva Trade Fair.

GIPF explained that the workshops, scheduled for the 28th and 29th of August, aim to equip the fund’s members with essential knowledge to facilitate well-informed decisions regarding their retirement. The fund further added that the workshops are designed to offer valuable financial insights, assisting members in navigating this pivotal juncture in their professional lives.

GIPF revealed that the northern regions have the largest fund membership base, which is why the fund has decided to host the workshops in Ongwediva. This strategic choice, the fund emphasised, reflects GIPF’s commitment to empowering soon-to-be retirees with comprehensive information about their entitlements and the fund’s regulations.

“Retirement can be very difficult and emotional as members find it difficult to identify what they must do when they go on retirement, hence the first step in pre-retirement planning is identifying your retirement goals. Part of this may include financial aspirations, such as maintaining a certain standard of living or letting go of some certain activities that you used to do while you were gainfully employed and as such, your planning should include all your personal ambitions, such as where to retire, traveling the world, new or old hobbies, or taking up new community activities,” GIPF said.

The fund revealed that the workshop agenda covers several crucial topics to help with this anxiety. These topics include an overview of GIPF’s retirement benefits, followed by comprehensive financial planning guidance. GIPF added that the workshops will conclude with a compelling testimonial from a contented GIPF retiree who is relishing their retirement years.

“We continuously emphasise the need for our members to attend the pre-and post-retirement workshops. We believe that members who are prepared for retirement, become better and more successful in retirees,” GIPF added.
