THE government, through the office of the Prime Minister, has made N$107 000 available to cover expenses related to the funeral services of the grieving Ndiyona constituency family in Kavango East.

This decision follows the death of 16 Kangumu family members in Kayova village, who allegedly died as a result of food poisoning.

In a statement issued by the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) on Thursday, the government announced its resolution to provide a total of N$107 000 to cover expenses related to the funeral services.

Through the National Emergency Disaster Fund (NEDF), the government will cover the costs of coffins, burial, and transportation for all the deceased, amounting to N$82 000. An additional N$15 000 worth of food and refreshments will be provided, along with N$10 000 for two shade tents.

I-Ben Nashandi, the Executive Director in the Office of the Prime Minister, expressed the sincere compassion of the OPM and the government as a whole to the bereaved family of Godfried Shishugho Kangungu and the entire Ndiyona Constituency community, who lost their loved ones in this unexpected and shocking calamity.

The OPM calls upon faith-based organizations, social workers, psychologists, community leaders, international organizations, the corporate sector, public enterprises, and individuals to assist the bereaved family in coping with this difficult situation.
