GROOTFONTEIN Municipality launched its 2023/2024 to 2027/2028 Strategic Plan, as part of their efforts to ensure the delivery of key developmental goals for the town.
The Grootfontein Municipality’s strategic plan will focus on eight strategic objectives defined within five strategic themes. These themes include improving efficiency in urban planning and infrastructure management, delivering serviced land, enhancing good governance, strengthening stakeholder relations, attaining sustainable environmental health, promoting socio-economic development, enhancing financial management, and enhancing organizational performance.
Officially launching the plan, Minister of Urban and Rural Development Erastus Uutoni said, “A strategic plan will be effective and relevant when a municipal council has involved all the stakeholders with an interest in town development affairs.”
He emphasized that the plan’s applicability is ensured when the set objectives focus on addressing the critical needs and demands of the community, aligning with national objectives.
Uutoni expressed confidence in the untapped potential of Grootfontein to contribute to the economic development of the town and the country at large. He emphasized that unlocking this potential would require unity of purpose among the team, going beyond their usual roles.
“It will require harmony within the local councillors, and the institution’s leadership stability will be instrumental in the success of the document being launched,” he said.
He further noted that while many organizations or institutions commit to developing such documents, they often fail to implement them once formulated and signed. Uutoni expressed hope that this plan would not suffer the same fate, emphasizing the need for dedication, commitment, and honesty to benefit the community of Grootfontein and Namibia at large.
