THE Helao Nafidi Town Council has joined the Ongwediva, Oshakati, and Ondangwa Councils in maintaining unchanged leadership during the election of office bearers for the next 12 months. This resulted in the re-election of Darius Shaalukeni as the town’s mayor, with his fellow Swapo councillor, Penexupifo Matias, serving as his deputy. Swapo councillors Sackaria Haimbili, Fillipus Shimumunyen, and Lucia Nghililewanga also retained their positions on the management committee. Loide Hamutenya and Elago Thomas, both IPC members, continue as ordinary council members. Haimbili was re-elected as the chairperson of the management committee.
Shaalukeni reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring service delivery for the residents of the town and visitors during his acceptance speech on Thursday. He emphasized that effective and efficient delivery is the core of their mission, aiming to ensure all residents receive the desired service. Shaalukeni said that they will work tirelessly to streamline processes, eliminate bureaucratic obstacles, and ensure essential services are delivered promptly and professionally. He expressed their goal to create an environment where residents can thrive, businesses can flourish, and the quality of life for everyone is continually improved.
According to Shaalukeni, unity is crucial for the town’s development, calling for cooperation from all stakeholders, local business people, and inhabitants to address challenges and promote development.
