HELAO Nafidi Mayor, Darius Shaalukeni, expressed the need for Ministry of Home Affairs services in the town. Shaalukeni discussed this during an interview with Informanté on Wednesday, stressing the importance of accessible services.
He pointed out that many residents have to travel as far as Eenhana and Ondangwa to access these much-needed services.
“We have people in need of national documents, but due to the unavailability of services, they suffer through the process and have to wait for years,” he said.
Shaalukeni also mentioned that he has space available that he can provide to ministry officials to establish the necessary services in the town.
Furthermore, he indicated that with an office, they could serve residents from areas as far as Engela, Oshikango, Ohangwena, and partially Ondobe and Ongenga, given the significant population.
Shaalukeni emphasized that some individuals are forced to wait for events such as the expo to obtain their national documents.
Moreover, he explained that some people face financial challenges and cannot find a means to access these services unless they are brought closer to them.
Shaalukeni also noted that the expo is going well, with most of the exhibitors from last year returning this year.
This year’s expo attracted a total of 247 exhibitors, including 23 corporate companies and two international exhibitors from Angola and Kenya.
