WINDHOEK, Sept. 12 — Huawei Namibia has unveiled its ‘Seeds for the Future’ undergraduate training initiative, offering seven University of Namibia (UNAM) students a unique opportunity to receive comprehensive training in information and communications technology (ICT).
This program is an integral part of Huawei’s global commitment to fostering the next generation of ICT professionals, and it has a distinguished track record, having run for over two decades and trained more than 160,000 students across 180 countries.
The seven selected students for this Namibian program include Padelia Nghalipo, Johanna Ndjimba, Riovanns Eichab, Saara Naikalemo, Julia Hasotushi, Miriam Shikongo, and Chante Moses. Their selection was based on their academic achievements and their deep passion for ICT.
The program spans six months and encompasses a wide array of topics, including 5G technology, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Furthermore, the students will have the unique opportunity to explore Chinese culture and visit Huawei’s state-of-the-art facilities in China.
Maggy Namundjebo, Vice Managing Director of Huawei Namibia, expressed her excitement about the launch of the Seeds for the Future program in Namibia. She stated, “This is a tremendous opportunity for our students to learn from industry leaders and acquire the skills needed to thrive in the digital economy.”
Dr. Samuel Nuugulu, Head of the Department of Computing, Mathematical & Statistical Science at UNAM, affirmed that this program offers an invaluable opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience and connect with leading figures in the industry. He stated, “We are confident that this program will equip our students for the jobs of the future.”
The students participating in this program are enthusiastic about the prospects it offers and are eager to contribute to the growth of Namibia’s ICT sector. Johanna Ndjimba, one of the selected students, expressed her excitement, saying, “I am truly honoured and excited to be part of Huawei’s Seeds for the Future program. This opportunity will open doors to a world of cutting-edge technology and global exposure. I am eager to learn and contribute to the future of technology alongside industry leaders.”
The ‘Seeds for the Future’ program not only provides Namibian students with the skills necessary for success in the digital age but also underscores Huawei’s unwavering dedication to nurturing the future generation of ICT professionals.
