Japan’s Ambassador to Namibia, Nishimaki Hisao, expressed condolences to the government and the people of Namibia on the death of the late Hage Geingob.

Hisao said this during the celebration of Japan’s Emperor’s birthday, where he also reaffirmed his country and Namibia’s strong ties.

The festivities commenced with cultural activities by the children of Village Hope, showcasing Japanese traditions and customs.

Japan has been a supporter of Namibia’s education sector through programmes such as the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP), a cause that the government pledged to continue.

“As the ambassador to Namibia, I would like to continue with the efforts to further strengthen relations in the fields of development, culture, and economy, with a focus on education. Ladies and gentlemen, I would now like to make a toast to his Excellency Dr. Nangola Mbumba.”

The ambassador’s remarks were met with appreciation from the Namibian government, expressing gratitude for Japan’s continuous assistance.

“Since the programme started, over 1600 Namibians have been trained in human resources development in Japan. The GRN of Japan continued with the construction of class projects across the country as we, as agricultural support, Japan, are providing Namibia in an effort to reduce poverty and improve livelihood through agricultural development in different regions. Namibia further wishes to express appreciation for the donation of gold chain equipment.”

Both countries pledged to continue collaborating in various spheres, and the celebration served as a reminder of the shared values and aspirations that unite them.
