The |Khomas Regional Council and the Ministry of Gender Equality have donated materials for income-generating projects valued at N$270,000 to various SMEs in an effort to tackle the high unemployment rate in the country.
The 11 beneficiaries are three needlework businesses, a carpentry business, a laundrette, two rental enterprises, a manufacturing company, a catering business, a welding outfit, and a kapana stall.
Items donated include sewing machines, laundry, welding and culinary equipment, chairs, and tables, among others.
These items will enable beneficiaries to grow their businesses and contribute to economic development.
Councillor for Katutura East Constituency, Richard !Gaoseb, urged the beneficiaries not to take these donations for granted but rather to use the opportunity to create jobs and enrich their communities.
“Today we are going to hand over 11 projects, and 11 people will be equipped with the equipment that they have applied for. We got 10 projects from the |Khomas Regional Council that we are going to hand over and one project from the Ministry of Gender. You that have received equipment don’t waste your equipment; make use of it.”
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude towards the |Khomas Regional Council for its unwavering support, saying the items would greatly contribute to the growth of their businesses and help them create employment.
