RE-ELECTED Mayor of Eenhana, Omri-Onn Kavandje, said that it remains their duty to ensure that their residents are receiving quality service.
Kavandje will be deputized by Selma Kawiiwa.
Meanwhile, Amos Nangolo, Ester Ndapwa Kavela, and Leonard Jona remain members of the management committee, with Nangolo re-elected as the Chairperson of the management.
Herman Angula and Fredrick Ndilinawa are ordinary council members.
Kavandje said that they have commenced servicing about 304 plots for low-income earners at Oukango Park, where houses are built under the federation program. This area is serviced with water, sewerage infrastructure, and electricity.
“It has been our agenda to find strategies that create employment opportunities for young people in town. One of the strategies is to attract major businesses such as manufacturing and shopping malls in town,” he said.
As a result, the Council has allocated land measuring 46,343 square meters at extension 12 to construct a State of Art Shopping Mall.
He added that, once completed, they believe this Mall will not only bring various commodities to town but will also create employment for our people, especially the youth.
Further, Kavandje indicated that education is the top pillar of development. As a Council, they have been and continue engaging institutes of higher learning to open their full-fledged institutional centres in Eenhana so that their people no longer have to travel long distances to access education elsewhere.
He then reaffirms that they have allocated land measuring 42 hectares worth about N$42 million to NUST as an effort to bring education close to their people.
Kavandje said it is also worth reporting that the International University Management is off the ground with constructing its campus in Eenhana. This noble project is visible on the west side of the Eenhana Circuit.
“Development is not happening overnight; however, I am very delighted at the pace at which Eenhana is developing. It has been our call for investors to come grow with us in Eenhana,” he said.
Kavandje indicated that they are continuing to call investors of various industries to come invest in Eenhana, and their doors are open for everyone, both Namibians and international investors.
