Keetmanshoop residents say they are disappointed that despite discussions around youth unemployment coming a long way, there have not been concrete solutions.
These sentiments were shared during a public engagement with the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Human Resource and Community Development at Keetmanshoop.
High unemployment among the youth is attributed to a lack of work experience and strategies to arrest the situation.
MP Elifas Dingara, who chaired the standing committee’s public engagement, welcomed participants’ inputs.
“You don’t need to have eyes; if you come to this room and pick one, that person knows how to solve unemployment in the country. All of us know how to solve it; we are not just doing it; someone is not doing it. That’s what I realise because there is no one who has spoken, who was given a time to speak, and speaking things that are irrelevant.”
