Finance Minister Iipumbu Shiimi was unable to present the mid-term budget statement this afternoon due to a lack of a quorum.
National Assembly Deputy Speaker, Loide Kasingo, adjourned the house minutes into the sitting.
Shiimi was set to take to the podium to present the midterm budget statement when the presiding officer called off the much-anticipated sitting that was set aside for this purpose.
The mid-term budget is a reallocation of money from the main budget tabled early this year.
During the reallocation, the Minister moves funds from some departments, allocating them to others that are deemed in need.
This year’s mid-term budget is expected to focus on, among others, the drought situation, described as a national emergency.
The house was adjourned to Tuesday for the continuation of the budget presentation.
