WHILE heavy rain has not yet become widespread across the interior parts of the country, specific areas in various regions are currently experiencing light rainfall, with the intensity gradually increasing in some places.
One standout location in terms of recent rainfall is Okomumbonde in the Omaheke Region, which received 38 millimetres (mm) of rain between Monday and Tuesday morning alone.
Most other parts of the country have not been as fortunate as Okomumbonde as of recently. However, several other places in various other regions also saw light rainfall during the same period. These include Omaruru, Ondangwa, and Outjo, which recorded 2.6mm, 2.2mm, and 1.4mm of rain, respectively, between Monday and Tuesday morning.
Additionally, Claratal, Helao-Nafidi, Oshakati, and Grootfontein observed extremely light rainfall, recording about 0.8mm, 0.4mm, 0.2mm, and 0.2mm of rain, respectively, during the same period.
According to Namibia Meteorological Services, more rain is anticipated in a number of regions of the country on Wednesday. These rain showers are expected to range from moderate to heavy, potentially accompanied by hailstorms, and are likely to affect the Otjozondjupa, Khomas, and eastern regions of the country.
Namibia Meteorological Services has also identified several places from the North to the South that are likely to experience thundershowers on Wednesday. This includes Windhoek, which, as of the current publication time, has only received light rainfall in some areas, contrary to earlier predictions. Rundu, Ondangwa, and Keetmanshoop have also been identified as additional places where rain showers are expected on Wednesday.
