A car crash during lunch hour caused traffic disruption in Walvis Bay’s Nangolo Mbumba Drive today (Wednesday, 19 July 2023). A light truck and a Land Cruiser station wagon collided at the intersection of Nangolo Mbumba Drive and 15th Road, resulting in the light truck crashing through the boundary wall of a guesthouse on the corner.

Upon Informanté’s arrival at the scene, both drivers remained seated behind their vehicle’s steering wheels, awaiting the arrival of emergency medical services. The Namibian Police and Walvis Bay municipal traffic services were present, regulating traffic and ensuring that bystanders stayed at a safe distance.

Nangolo Mbumba Drive serves as one of the main traffic routes, and vehicle crashes during rush hour often lead to disruptions and delays. Although both drivers appeared to be unharmed, emergency medical services may recommend a medical examination.

Eyewitnesses reported that the driver of the light truck failed to stop at the stop sign, causing the collision with the station wagon, which was travelling from the south on Nangolo Mbumba Drive.

This incident marks the second vehicle accident on Nangolo Mbumba Drive today, raising concerns for the traffic authorities. Earlier in the rush hour this morning, another collision occurred at the intersection of 11th Road and Nangolo Mbumba Drive, prompting a response from various emergency services.
