A man (30) allegedly assaulted a female police officer after he was pulled off the road for a traffic offence at Rehoboth on Saturday.
In the weekend crime report, police spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi said the suspect was requested to do a breathalyser test but instead drove away from the scene.
“He was chased after and arrested. It is further alleged that the suspect beat the police officer with a fist in her face and her spectacles caused a deep open wound above her eyes and on the cheek,” Shikwambi said.
The officer was rushed to the hospital and discharged after receiving some stitches.
The suspect has been arrested and police investigations continue.
