THE Namibian Police Force in the Oshana region has arrested a 42-year-old man after his vehicle was intercepted with timber loaded in it at the Oshiko roadblock on Thursday.
Oshana Crime Investigation Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Frederick Ndjadila, said that the suspect was caught around 21:00.
According to Ndjadila, the suspect faces charges of possession of forest produce without a permit/license, transportation of forest produce without a permit/license, and driving a motor vehicle without a license.
“It is alleged that the suspect was found driving a Toyota Hilux single cab fully loaded with timber without a permit to possess or transport it,” he said.
He added that the suspect is not licensed.
Ndjadila indicated that they recovered a full load of timber (mopane trees). However, the value of the timber has not yet been determined.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court this week.
