A 38-YEAR-OLD man’s lifeless body was discovered hanging from a jackalberry tree by a community member.
The deceased was identified as Haipinge Matheus Nghidinitate, a resident of Endola village in the Ohangwena region.
Oshana Crime Investigation Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Frederick Ndjadila, said the incident occurred at Elyambala village in Ongwediva.
According to Ndjadila, the deceased’s body was found hanging with a rope around his neck in a jackalberry tree near the Oshinyadhila gravel road by a community member who was walking in his mahangu field.
“The witness allegedly spotted a person standing in the tree and didn’t pay much attention to it. He went back home, and at around 09:00, he noticed that the same person was still at the same spot. The informant and a housemate went closer and discovered a rope hanging from the tree to the deceased. They then notified the police,” he said.
He added that a suicide note was found in the deceased’s trouser pocket, and no foul play is suspected.
The deceased’s body was transported to Oshakati Police Mortuary.
