The Information and Communication Technology Minister has urged staff to enhance efforts to ensure effective service delivery to the public.
Dr. Peya Mushelenga addressed management and regional heads during the opening of his ministry’s annual planning session at Swakopmund.
Transforming public service in Namibia is a crucial step towards achieving sustainable development.
ICT Minister Dr. Peya Mushelenga says effective governance is essential for advancing the Namibian economy and the well-being of citizens.
He adds that it is time to reform the public sector towards a more efficient, effective, and responsive vehicle that meets citizens’ needs and promotes economic growth and good governance.
As governance grows in complexity, he says public servants must possess the skills to innovate and solve day-to-day challenges in service delivery.
He further urged the leaders to optimally utilise training budgets.
He noted that the government needs to implement effective management systems that set clear performance targets, provide regular feedback, and reward high performers.
Ultimately, Mushelenga says, social service providers and other support personnel are considered the front lines of service delivery.
Thus, enabling them to do their jobs effectively and sustainably is a primary concern for those interested in improving service delivery in the public sector
