A FIVE-YEAR-OLD boy reportedly died from unknown poisoning at Onuukulu-B village in Omuthiya.
The deceased was identified as Tuhafeni Tuyoleni Wilhelm.
Oshikoto Community Policing Sub-division Chief Inspector Ellen Nehale-Kangulu said the incident occurred around midnight on Wednesday.
According to Nehale-Kangulu, the boy was left at home with two other minors, aged 5 and 12, while their grandmother went to the cuca shops.
“The deceased began complaining of a headache while she was away. Upon her return, the deceased claimed he had fallen from a marula tree. However, upon inspection, the grandmother found no footprints or evidence of a fall,” she said.
She added that the grandmother sought assistance from a traditional healer in the village. Unfortunately, the boy passed away upon arrival at the traditional healer’s home, before receiving any treatment.
Nehale-Kangulu said that an autopsy conducted on Friday revealed the cause of death to be poisoning of an unknown nature.
