The Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, says it is incorrect to state that African governments are mum on the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.
Nandi-Ndaitwah was responding to a question from PDM President Mchenry Venaani, who expressed concern over the alleged silence of African governments on the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Nandi-Ndaitwah cited ongoing discussions at the UN Security Council, saying resolutions were being drafted by countries such as Russia and Brazil.
“What we are waiting for now, after the Security Council, is for it to go to the General Assembly. This is when the majority of member states will speak and agree on a solution. That’s when we will reaffirm our stance that Israel should halt its actions.”
She stressed that the situation in Gaza requires collective efforts.
“In situations like this, we cannot rely solely on governments. We are doing what we can, but we also urge you to stand up and support what your government is doing.”
