Miss Namibia pageant Queens visits Women’s peace centre

SHOWCASING their support towards the growing awareness of the role of women in issues of peace and security internationally, Miss Namibia 2023, Jameela /Uiras and Miss Teen Namibia Oriana Ribeiro visited the Namibian International Women’s Peace Centre’s (NIWPC) Office.

The centre which had been officiated by Vice-President Nangolo Mbumba in October 2020, is part of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 that cites that women’s participation in peace processes is pivotal to the attainment of sustainable peace and security. In addition to this, the UN resolution also reaffirms the need to implement fully, international humanitarian and human rights laws that protects the rights of women and girls during and after conflicts.

Miss Namibia 2023 and Miss Teen Namibia 2023 accompanied by the Miss Namibia & NBC team during the courtesy visit met with Ambassador Morina Muuondjo, Acting Head of the Namibian International Women’s Peace Centre’s (NIWPC) Office.

“We’re truly grateful that you see so much potential in us to become your future brand ambassadors. Our duties do not end with our social causes, so it would be of great pleasure to be part of this project. Miss Teen Namibia and myself do not limit ourselves from learning and we’re excited to be the voices that share these messages to the youth,” /Uiras said.
