WITH five days past in the case of missing man Robby Michael, whose car was found swept into the ocean at Henties Bay, the Namibian police has discounted reports that the missing man’s car was not hijacked or involved in a car accident prior to being found in the ocean.
The police, on Tuesday this week took in a suspect for questioning who was suspected to have been found with the fishing rods of the missing Michael. The suspect has to date not been charged till today.
“That was the state in which the vehicle was found on the initial day. We took note of other pictures circulating on different social media platforms and wish to explain that, the additional damages on the vehicle would’ve occurred during the process of towing it from the sea. The area is rocky and the sea tide remained high. The team had worked hard to remove the vehicle from the water for about 6 hours.
We acknowledge inputs and advises from the public with some suggesting that the vehicle was either involved in accident elsewhere. While we value that, we request our communities to have trust and confidence in us as we are still investigating the matter with the seriousness it deserves,” Inspector Illeni Shapumba spokesperson of the Erongo Police said.
He further added that there is no new development in the case. “The sea tide was high until yesterday. Investigation team has also searched the whole area and have never spotted any evidence that would suggest that the victim might have walked away from the area.” Shapumba said.
