The administrative sector will receive 7.8% of the national budget and an amount of N$6.8 billion in the fiscal year 2024–25 to support effective governance and the efficient administration of public services.

The Ministry of Urban and Rural Development’s budget has increased by 37.2% to N$2.6 billion.

“In addition to provisions for housing, this allocation includes N$250 million in FY2024/25 and N$175 million in FY2025/26 for the rollout of prepaid water and electricity metres in various local authorities as a long-term solution to the rising debt with NamPower and NamWater. An additional N$141 million has been allocated for the transformation of Aus and Lüderitz local authorities to improve services due to the growing population driven by oil and gas exploration as well as green hydrogen activities in the region. Over the MTEF, the vote receives a total of N$7.8 billion.”

Additionally, the Electoral Commission of Namibia has been allocated an amount of N$438 million in the preceding year to ensure smooth and timely voter registration as well as undertake the Presidential and National Assembly elections towards the end of this year.
