PAULUS Noa, the Director-General of the Anti-Corruption Commission, participated in the 6th Annual General Meeting of the Africa Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities held in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The aim of the two-day conference, taking place between 31st July and 1st August 2023, was to address the pressing issue of combating corruption and tackling illicit financial flows. The gathering revolved around the overarching theme of “Promote citizen engagement in the fight against corruption and illicit financial flows, guaranteeing the holistic development of the African continent.”
During the meeting, participants focused on strategies to foster the active involvement of citizens in the battle against corruption and explored measures to curb the illegal movement of funds that hinder Africa’s overall progress. This crucial event brought together stakeholders from various sectors to collaborate, exchange ideas, and develop concrete actions to promote transparency, integrity, and sustainable growth across the continent.
Over 40 member countries of the AAACA, which encompassed Namibia, participated in the general assembly. It was during this gathering that some nations, including Namibia, entered into a memorandum of understanding with the South Africa Special Investigating Unit. Among the other signatory countries were Madagascar, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
