The 28-man squad is currently putting in the work as they gear up for the tournament, which runs from April 18th to 29th.
Coach Coetzee expressed his confidence in the team’s progress, stating they are “on the right track” and satisfied with the selected players. Coetzee has set a clear target for the team, which is to win their opening match. Namibia kicks off their campaign against Kenya on Saturday, April 20th.
They then face the defending champions, Zimbabwe, on Wednesday, April 24th, followed by a clash with Tunisia on Sunday, April 28th. Namibia boasts a strong historical record in the Under-20 Barthes Trophy, having claimed the title seven consecutive times between 2012 and 2018.
Their recent achievements include a third-place finish in 2023 and a runner-up spot in 2022. The tournament champion traditionally secures a qualification spot for the Rugby World Cup Under-20.
