MULTICHOICE Namibia’s collaboration with the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) is set to showcase 13 local film productions, marking the culmination of a year-long project.
The films aim to promote Namibian stories, while contributing to the growth of the local film sector.
This collaborative effort, known as Project Mukorob, seeks to support the Namibian film industry and offer global exposure to domestically crafted feature films.
After a year of work, these films, developed in conjunction with NBC, are ready for release. The objective is to present a distinct perspective on Namibian storytelling, catering to both local and potentially international audiences.
MultiChoice Namibia managing director Roger Gertze noted that these films respond to a growing demand for locally relevant narratives.
The initiative underlines MultiChoice Namibia’s commitment to investing in local productions and fostering the local film sector.
The 13 films are scheduled for release next month on platforms like DStv, GOtv, and Showmax, providing diverse access to viewers. Additionally, the films will be broadcast on NBC, spanning from December this year to May 2025.
Five films produced in Afrikaans and other Namibian vernaculars will also be featured on KykNET & Kie, broadcasting on Sundays at 20h00. The line-up includes titles such as ‘The Funeral’, ‘Bokwagter’, ‘The Goal’, ‘Wish For Death’, and ‘Instant Love’.
The partnership between MultiChoice Namibia and NBC aims to not only give Namibian film-makers a platform but also contribute to the local content creation industry, aligning with audience preferences. This venture is expected to have a significant impact on the country’s film landscape. – unWrap.online
