WINDHOEK, Nov. 6 — Dantagos Jimmy-Melani, the producer of ‘Bokwagter,’ a film featured in the MultiChoice Namibia/NBC project, has been selected to participate in the Creative Producer Indaba (CPI).
The CPI is a professional development program designed to enhance the leadership and entrepreneurial skills of African producers through a combination of online and in-person sessions held at the Festival International du Film de Marrakech and the International Film Festival Rotterdam.
Expressing her excitement about this unique opportunity provided by the Realness Institute, Jimmy-Melani, an emerging creative producer, stated, “As an emerging creative producer, I am excited and grateful for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
Lucia Meyer-Marais, the Commissioning Editor of Premium M-Net Channels, shared her pride in Dantagos Jimmy-Melani’s accomplishments, having encountered her during the MultiChoice/NBC Mukorob Film Project. She commended Jimmy-Melani’s talent, determination, and passion, expressing confidence that she would excel in the CPI environment and return to Namibia with a wealth of knowledge.
The Realness Institute, an African filmmaking agency, oversees the CPI and has selected 15 African producers to participate. They are collaborating with institutions such as the Canadian Film Fund, the Austrian Film Fund, and South Africa’s National Film and Video Foundation.
Roger Gertze, Managing Director of MultiChoice Namibia, conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to Dantagos Jimmy-Melani for her remarkable achievement. He praised her dedication to the Namibian television and film industry, highlighting the recognition of local talent on the international stage. He wished her success as an ambassador for Namibian excellence, representing the nation globally.
‘Bokwagter,’ Jimmy-Melani’s recent film that chronicles the lives of Namibian children defending themselves against cattle thieves, is available for viewing on DStv, GOtv, and Showmax.
