THE Namibian Presidency has conveyed warm wishes to President Hage Geingob on his 82nd birthday, emphasizing that reflecting on his life underscores his legacy as a compassionate and affectionate leader who played a pivotal role in securing Namibia’s independence.

“Today, we join the Namibian nation to celebrate the life of an empathetic and towering figure, a Pan-Africanist, a global statesman and a son of the Namibian soil,” the Namibian Presidency shared.

The presidency described President Geingob’s love for the country as infectious, noting that his vision for inclusive growth and prosperity motivates others to work in the best interests of the nation’s people.

The Namibian Presidency also commended President Geingob for successfully guiding the country through numerous challenges over the past eight years. These challenges, the presidency explained, included a commodity crisis, historically bad and persistent droughts, and the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite these obstacles, the presidency added, President Geingob managed to effectively lead the nation towards safety.

“We appreciate the gravity of your leadership in steering the country, region and continent. We are, as a nation, witnesses to the rich biography of a leader who successfully undertook, throughout his many lives in public life, intractable missions,” the Namibian Presidency said.

The presidency further emphasized that President Geingob played pivotal roles in securing the governance of an independent Namibia through his roles as a freedom fighter, a United Nations petitioner, and the man tasked with preparing the liberation movement, SWAPO. Additionally, the Namibian Presidency said President Geingob served as the architect and Father of the Namibian Constitution in 1989, dismantled Apartheid as a unifying Prime Minister and, since 2015, steered the country through its most difficult hours.

“It is our prayer that you experience blessings in abundance, enjoy good health, have all-round peace and joy, and observe continued success in your endeavours. May your leadership continue to inspire generations to come and may Namibia keep on thriving under your stewardship. The entire Presidency extends its heartfelt congratulations to you, our President, on your 82nd birthday,” the Namibian Presidency added.
