TELEVISION personality, brand ambassador, business person and MC Robyn Nakaambo will anchor the second annual Basadi in Music Awards (Bimas) at the Johannesburg Theatre in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 12 August.
The South African music awards event was created last year to celebrate and honour women in the South African music industry.
The prestigious event pays tribute to the outstanding contributions of women musicians, producers and other industry professionals.
Nakaambo, Namibia’s Sofnfree brand ambassador, will be interviewing nominees and honorary guests on the red carpet and backstage throughout the ceremony.
“This is the fruition of my dreams, and I am truly overwhelmed with gratitude. I am ecstatic about this opportunity. This platform, if used well, can be a stepping stone to greater heights in my career,” she says.
Media personality and actress Khanyi Mbau will host the event.
Nakaambo says she is pleased that Sofnfree is sponsoring the amapiano category to further uplift and encourage freedom of expression and to advance women’s careers in music and entertainment.
She says the platform is perfect for growing her brand and learning more.
“I can say that I am just a girl from Golgota Street in Soweto, with dreams that just keep getting bigger and more audacious as I attain them.
“I have been manifesting expanding my work footprint for eons, and I am overwhelmed with gratitude at its fruition,” she says.
Nakaambo says she hopes to deliver a stellar performance and to make a reputable statement.
For the next few weeks she will be busy preparing to deliver her best, she says.
“There I will network and lay the foundation for future work opportunities for myself in the entertainment and brand influencing industry.
“Namibians must try their luck outside the country. Exposure beyond our comfort zones enables us as individuals to see what the world has to offer and encourages us to want more for ourselves and our loved ones,” she says.
