THEFT of motor vehicles continues to be unstoppable in the Ohangwena Region, with most of the vehicles being stolen while parked in residential areas by unknown suspects.

Ohangwena Commissioner Ottilie Kashuupulwa said the vehicles were mostly stolen from Eenhana, Endola, Engela, Oshikango, Ondobe, and Ohangwena areas (constituencies).

Among the vehicles that are stolen are Toyota Corollas and Toyota old models.

She added that during January to December of the last year, a total of 29 vehicles were stolen, while 22 vehicles were stolen in the last ten months alone.

The police have only recovered 10 vehicles that were found in Angola after they were stolen in the last 22 months.

“The vehicles are being taken to Angola, and some are yet to be recovered,” she said.

She added that all the ten vehicles were recovered in Angola,” she said.

However, Kashuupulwa said there is a long process to repatriate the vehicles from Angola to Namibia.
