Namibians awarded scholarships to boost green hydrogen industry

In an effort to ensure that Namibia is ready to develop its green hydrogen industry and related human resources capabilities, Namibians are awarded scholarships to learn, conduct research, and upskill.

This programme was designed to ensure the output of trained Namibians who are fit for the Green Hydrogen Energy Project.

The six-month mobility programme is scheduled to begin in Germany in the coming weeks and is aimed at skill development and capacity building.

Frank Mungunda is one of the beneficiaries of the Namibia Green Hydrogen Scholarship Programme.

His interest lies in hydrogen production.

The Executive of the Namibia Green Hydrogen Scholarship Programme, Joseph Mukendwa, says the Ministry of Mines and Energy will start a campaign to educate Namibians on hydrogen and its benefits.

He says both the government and private sectors have a part to play in ensuring that the country realises its green hydrogen ambitions.

Green hydrogen is expected to greatly contribute to the country’s Gross Domestic Product and create jobs in the short, medium, and long term.
