Namibia’s Under-15 Teams Miss Out on Bronze Medals at CAF Schools African Championship

It was a disappointing outcome for Namibia’s Schools Under-15 girls and boys football teams at the CAF Schools African Championship held in Harare, Zimbabwe. Both teams fell short in their quest for bronze medals, with the girls’ team suffering a 4-0 defeat against Mozambique and the boys’ team losing 1-0 to Zimbabwe.

The Namibian Schools girls under-15 team had hoped to secure a podium finish in the 3rd/4th play-off match against Mozambique. However, their opponents proved too strong, scoring four goals and securing a 4-0 victory. Similarly, the boys’ team faced a tough challenge against Zimbabwe, ultimately losing 1-0 and ending their championship campaign in 4th place.

Despite missing out on medals, the Namibian teams showcased their talent and resilience throughout the tournament. Their participation in the championship is a testament to their dedication and hard work, and they should be proud of their efforts.

In the girls’ category, South Africa emerged victorious, defeating Botswana 3-1 to claim the gold medal. The South African boys’ team, predominantly composed of players from the Ubuntu Football Academy in Cape Town, also secured gold, winning a penalty shootout 3-0 after a 1-1 draw in the final against Botswana.

As the dust settles on the championship, both South African teams will advance to the continental finals to be held next year.
