Residents of Khorixas in the Kunene Region have expressed that they do not want to be remembered only when it’s election time or on matters that have to do with elections.
Residents say their voices are only sought during elections, where officials flock to the town to hear their needs, only to return after five years of election again without any change to their well-being or living standard.
Like many small towns, unemployment and access to basic services continue to be an issue in the community, with mostly young people having little to nothing to do.
More than 8,000 people are registered to vote in Khorixas.
