THE Namibian Police in the Omusati Region discovered an arms cache on Tuesday at a traditional homestead in the Onesi constituency, where a 24-year-old male suspect was allegedly found in possession of seven AK-47 assault rifles and their respective magazines hidden under his bed. However, no ammunition was found.
Preliminary police investigations suggest that the guns were in the process of being moved from one secret location to another.
Regional police commander Ismael Basson said some of the guns are not in serviceable condition, indicating that they had likely been hidden for a considerable time.
According to Basson, there is a strong likelihood that more individuals were involved in the crime besides the arrested suspect.
