THE Namibian Police Force has made it a priority to work hand-in-hand with the public and all relevant stakeholders in its quest to combat crime.
This was according to NamPol Inspector General Joseph Shikongo, while he was officially opening the 26th NamPol annual Championship in Outjo on Tuesday.
Shikongo said this is prompted by the fact that crimes are committed in communities and in most cases such acts are witnessed by members of the public, thus making them better placed to assist the police in pursuing the perpetrators.
‘The men and women in uniform always put Namibia first and ensure that crime is reduced in our country,’ he said.
He added that general crime in the country is manageable, and this is attributed to the launch of various national crime prevention operations, which are all geared towards restoring law and order and maintaining the safety and security of all people in their beloved country.
Shikongo also pointed out that, on various occasions, uniform members have put their lives in danger while chasing criminals and ensuring that those who wrong their society are brought to book.
Thus, he noted that the Namibian Police Force will not tolerate any harassment of their law-abiding citizens by criminals who intend to rob and terrorize the people.
