THE Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA) invites all licensed clearing agents who plan to continue providing declaration and clearance services for importers and exporters in 2025 to renew their licences.
Tonateni Shidhudhu, NamRA’s Manager of Strategic Communications and Stakeholder Engagements, announced that these licences can be renewed between 1 November 2024 and 31 January 2025, in line with Section 73 of the Customs and Excise Act (Act No. 20 of 1998), with a renewal fee of N$100.
“According to Item 835 of Schedule 8 of the Customs and Exise Act, 1998, a clearing agent’s license remains valid for one calendar year from 1 January to 31 December. As such, all clearing agents are required to renew their licenses before the close of each calendar year,” he said.
Shidhudhu explained that clearing agents must submit a completed renewal application form (NamRA-CE-FR-055), available on NamRA’s website, along with proof of payment addressed to the commissioner. These documents can be submitted in person, via courier, or by email to [email protected].
“Please note that all licenses not renewed by 31 January 2025 will be suspended. Additionally, any licence that was suspended in 2024, as well as any license suspended as of 31 January 2025, will incur a penalty fee of N$8,000.00 for reactivation,” Shidhudhu added.
