THE newly appointed governor of the Ohangwena Region, General (retired) Sebastian Ndeitunga, paid a courtesy call on Queen Martha Mwadinomho Kristian Nelumbu of the Oukwanyama Traditional Authority (OuTA) on Monday afternoon. According to the OuTA spokesperson, Andrew Naikaku, Ndeitunga was welcomed at the Omhedi Palace by the Queen accompanied by senior traditional councilors and advisers.
In an earlier interview with Informante, Ndeitunga said that among the issues he intends to prioritize include Namibian livestock farmers who graze their cattle in the southern Cunene province of Angola and who were recently notified by the Angolan authorities about their impending expulsion from the Oshimholo grazing area. The farmers, most of whom are from Ohangwena, are accused of having entered Angola illegally and of displaying a generally disrespectful behaviour towards their host country’s authorities. The impending expulsion of Namibian farmers was one of the issues that came up during the meeting that also addressed other issues and challenges facing the region.
