NDF, BDF promote cultural practises through various activities at operation Hanganee II

As part of the just-ended operation Hanganee II, the Namibian Defence Force and its counterpart from Botswana promoted cultural practises through various activities.

Speaking at the cultural day held at Gobabis, Omaheke Governor Pijoo Nganate stressed that culture plays a significant role in promoting mutual understanding and appreciating one another as sister countries.

Nganate emphasised that cultural programmes enhance connections among community members and also help promote peace and unity.

The Omaheke Governor also added that, through bilateral agreements, the region has benefited from cultural educational programmes.

“When we look at the cultural exchange and people-to-people connections, bilateral cooperation facilitates cultural exchange programmes and educational collaboration, and Omaheke has been benefiting from Sestwana teachers from Botswana that have been teaching in our schools, and some of them are still teaching. We must provide mutual understanding appropriate to one another’s diverse cultures, and as different countries, such exchanges contribute to building bridges of friendship, fostering global perspectives, and reducing stereotypes and misconceptions.”

Kgosi Mbao Kahiiko III from Charleshill District in Botswana applauded both governments for their efforts.

“This easy movement will result in better cultural exchange among our communities in Botswana and Namibia, so we applaud the governments and even the communities of both countries for trying to join hands to promote our culture.”
