Windhoek, 17 July. On Saturday, the NDF TE hosted an exhilarating boxing tournament that showcased the talents of 70 amateur boxers from various clubs and federations in Khomas, Erongo, Otjozondjupa, and Kunene Regions. Participants included members of the NDT TE Boxing Club (BC), Namibia Special Forces BC, 21 Brigade BC, as well as recruits from the ongoing 16th Recruit Training.
The event concluded with the NDF TE team clinching the title of the best team of the tournament, achieving an impressive record of 9 wins and 9 defeats.
One of the standout performances came from recruit Nobert Haikali, who claimed the title of Best Boxer of the tournament. In a thrilling match in the 63 weight class, Haikali secured a victory over Robert Hamalwa from the After School Boxing Academy on points.
Brigadier General Thomas Showa, the Commandant of the NDF TE, expressed his admiration for the participants during the closing ceremony. He commended their unwavering dedication and the highest level of commitment they demonstrated, embodying the spirit of excellence that defines the Defence Force.
“To all the participants, regardless of your results, whether soldiers or civilians, I extend my congratulations to each and every one of you. You have not only showcased your physical prowess but also the indomitable spirit that makes our Defence Force and our nation so formidable. Your determination and commitment are an inspiration to us all,” said the commandant. -Namibia Daily News
