THE National Democratic Party (NDP) , has donated seeds for crop farming to the previously marginalised groups of the San speaking community who reside in the western Caprivi in the Kongola and Mukwe Constituency respectively.

NDP President Martin Lukato, who was accompanied by his national leaders has been leading the distribution program which started-off the ground on Friday October 6, by handing over seeds for ploughing to the needy communities those living in Kongola  Constituency and  Mukwe Constituency, east of Kavango region.

He explained that since the ploughing season is fast approaching “We started the distribution at Masambo, Ndoro, Omega, Kachenje, Pipo, Cheto, Divundu, and other Districts and Villages that we came across along the way in Trans- Caprivi Highway”

According to President Lukato, the aim of distributing crop seeds to the disadvantaged people (The San Communities), in the Western Caprivi is in line with its party objective of fighting poverty and hunger in increasing food security among the San people.

NDP has been encouraging farmers  to work hard in farming activities as agriculture is the backbone of the country.

“That’ s why we took it upon ourselves to assist the San farmers in order for them to start preparing their farms and get ready for the rain season. So that they can start ploughing their fields and able to feed themselves and stop the self-reliance habit of expecting hand-outs from the government”

He added that NDP mission and exercise is to continue assisting many farmers in need of crop- ploughing seeds. “The exercise is so important in the sense that it improves livelihoods of our many people in the region and Namibia at large.”

Mr. Lukato , founding  and National President of NDP was accompanied by Brave Annette Mutumuswana, NDP Secretary for Katima Mulilo Urban Constituency and Brave Booster Mautu, NDP Regional Coordinator for Kongola West.
