Katima Mulilo, July 19 – The National Democratic Party (NDP) held a press conference today to outline its motives and campaign strategies for the upcoming election. NDP President Martin Lukato appeared in a jovial mood as he shared his vision for what Namibia could become under his Party’s leadership.
Lukato vowed to make Namibia a peaceful and prosperous nation if his Party were to be in power. He called on all Namibians to rally behind the NDP in the next election, stating that this was an opportunity to rectify any past mistakes made in the last 23 years. He urged citizens to vote for the NDP and support their vision for the country.
Deputy President of the NDP, David Mwilima Ntonda, promised a bright future for Namibia if the NDP were to assume office. He outlined plans for the government to provide allowances of N$10,000.00 for traditional leaders such as chiefs and N$5,000.00 for village headmen. The unemployed would also receive N$4,000.00 to enhance their livelihoods.
Secretary of the Party, Alex Linyando, emphasized that the NDP is a national party and not limited to any specific village or group. He invited all Namibians, regardless of tribe, to join the NDP, expressing that the party has travelled to various corners of the country to reach out to the people.
Regional Elections Coordinator Nanvula Siboli encouraged youth and the unemployed to join the NDP, sharing her own experience as a graduate still searching for employment. She believes that the NDP’s policies and initiatives can bring about positive changes to the current situation.
In an important development, NDP President Martin Lukato announced that the party has written a letter to the Katima Mulilo town council to recall Honorable Watson Kalaluka. The council plans to replace him with Clifa Mukendwa. Lukato clarified that the removal process is still ongoing, and further details will be revealed in a future press conference.
The press conference was attended by some members of the Affirmative Repositioning (AR) movement, as the NDP has political cooperation with them.
The event concluded with Martin Lukato, the NDP president, amusing the media specialists by singing his favourite song once again, catching them off guard. – Namibia Daily News
