LONGINUS Kalimbo Iipumbu, a serving member of Parliament for the Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters (NEFF), appeared in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court on charges of attempted murder and malicious damage to property following a shooting incident at Onawa in Oshakati on Saturday.
It is alleged that Iipumbu shot at the complainant’s vehicle, causing damage but no injuries to the driver.
He was arrested after surrendering himself to the police investigator at the Onawa Police Station on Sunday afternoon.
The police identified the firearm used in the alleged offense as a Ruger hunting rifle, which was recovered and booked as evidence. However, the spent cartridge could not be found.
Iipumbu appeared in court on Tuesday, was granted bail of N$5,000, and the case was postponed to July next year.
