THE Minister of Industrialisation and Trade, Lucia Iipumbu, commissioned the new board of directors for the Namibia Estates Agency Board and the Namibia Competition Commission (NaCC) on Monday.
The new board of directors for the NEAB consists of Marvel Tjombonde and Abel Sindano as Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson respectively. Simeon Kahona, Dickson Swanepoel, and Liberty Mupopiwa are members. The new Board will serve for a period of three (3) years, from 1 March 2023 to 31 March 2026.
Meanwhile, the new NaCC Board comprises Andreas Penda Ithindi as Chairperson and Isabella Tjatjara as Deputy Chairperson. Siegfried Josua Neumann, Irene Simeon-Kurtz, and Benjamin Biwa are members. This Board will serve for a period of three (3) years, from 1 August 2023 to 31 July 2026.
During the same occasion, the Minister also announced the appointment of the Chief Executive Officer for the Namibia Standards Institution (NSI), Dr. Eino Mvula. Dr. Mvula replaces Ms. Chie Wasserfall, who retired in December 2022.
Welcoming the new boards at the event, Iipumbu urged the new board of directors to invest heavily in cultivating strong relationships with their stakeholders.
She further tasked the board to lead the institutions to which they have been assigned in line with the enabling legislations and to observe key sections within the Public Enterprise and Governance Act, especially those dealing with issues of compliance.
“Some of the compliance matters that I expect to be fully adhered to are the signing of Performance Agreements by the Board of Directors with the line Minister, developing and submitting an integrated strategic business plan, timely submission of annual reports to the line Ministry, and the compilation and submission of financial reports, to mention but a few,” the Minister stated.
Iipumbu also extended a warm welcome to Dr. Mvula, who took over the reins of the NSI on 1 July 2023. Dr. Mvula rejoins the Institution where he was instrumental in its establishment in 2008.
