THE Minister of Education, Arts, and Culture, Ester Anna Nghipondoka, has urged schools, parents, and guardians to ensure that children attend the recently-launched MTC Teen Inspirational Summit, with its main event scheduled for 30 March 2024.

“The MTC Teen Inspirational Summit will not just be an event, but a celebration of resilience, courage, and the unyielding spirit that resides within each one of you. We aim to engage, stimulus, and encourage you through inspirational speeches and talent displays, showcasing the incredible abilities and potential that lies within this room and beyond,” the minister said.

Nghipondoka disclosed that the summit, themed “Be Your Own Hero,” aims to serve as a platform for promoting self-expression, creativity, and the honouring of individuality. She emphasized that the inspiration for the summit stems from the acknowledgment of the necessity to encourage and motivate teenagers in their pursuit of dreams, regardless of how unconventional or improbable they may appear.

“I urge you to believe in the uniqueness of your dreams, no matter how grand or unconventional they may be. The world has been shaped by those who dared to dream the impossible and worked tirelessly to turn those dreams into reality. Remember, every hero that you admire started with a dream that seemed out of reach. They faced challenges, setbacks, and doubts, but they persevered,” Nghipondoka said.

The minister highlighted Christine Mboma as an example of someone who believed in her dreams and urged other teenagers to follow her example.
“Today, Mboma is a champion because she believed in her dreams. She believed that one day she will be a champion, despite all odds, and today, we celebrate her. I am therefore particularly happy that the MTC Teen Inspirational Summit is driven to inspire, instil confidence, self-value, and provide guidance to our children, and make them believe that they can be whoever they want to be, just like Christine Mboma did, and many other inspirational people in Namibia,” she said.

According to the minister, the summit will be a testament to the collective efforts of adults, youth, the private sector, and the government to create a future where every teenager has the courage to pursue their dreams.
“t this is not the first time that MTC is hosting a Teen Inspirational Summit, and I am hoping that this will not be the last time. As a country, we need inclusivity because if we can have seminars for adults, let us also have seminars designed for teenagers. No one should be left out,” Nghipondoka added.
