No bail for man accused of illegal possession of firearm

BONIFASIUS Simon, the 31-year-old resident of Okafa Koushongo in the Omusati Region who was recently arrested for illegal possession of a firearm, appeared in the Outapi Magistrate’s court. The case was postponed to the 12th of February next year, and he was remanded in custody.

Simon, as seen in the picture, was apprehended in Omholo village while carrying an unlicensed firearm and respective ammunition. According to the police, Simon was carrying a white plastic bag, and when he was stopped by the police, he threw the plastic bag away. It was then discovered that the bag contained a pistol and the respective magazine containing one round of ammunition. The pistol’s serial number had been scratched off.
