THROUGH intelligence-led policing, Nampol and City Police successfully arrested 25-year-old Erastus Aludhilu, also known as “Shapumba,” on multiple outstanding cases.
Shapumba was apprehended on 14 November 2023 after being linked to several pending cases, including theft from a motor vehicle (1 count), robbery with aggravated circumstances (1 count), theft (7 counts), stock theft (3 counts), housebreaking, and other additional cases.
The notorious Shapumba had been avoiding capture for an extended period after committing numerous crimes.
His first arrest was made after he was linked to a housebreak-in with aggravated circumstances in Brakwater, which took place on the Monday evening of 13 November 2023. All outstanding cases of Shapumba happened in Mix location and Brakwater areas, respectively.
This elusive individual had caused significant distress and disruption within the community, leaving a trail of victims in his wake. Advanced surveillance technology (the drone) was utilized in the apprehension of the suspect.
Moreover, accomplices to Shapumba were detained prior to his arrest, namely: David Vennicky, known as “Nahum,” Naulindu Fillemon, known as “KK,” Uupindi Erry known as “Kushrid,” and Amutenya Nuuyoma, known as “Sisa,” who have already appeared before court and were all remanded in custody.
Shapumba also appeared before court and is remanded in custody until his next court appearance.
