The residents of Okahao constituency have expressed deep admiration and gratitude for the late President Hage Geingob, describing him as a transformative leader who brought significant development to their constituency and beyond.

Through his rural initiatives and the provision of clean drinking water to remote rural areas, President Geingob’s footprints have left an indelible mark on the history of Namibia.

Okahao constituency is home to many remote rural communities that have historically faced challenges in accessing basic amenities and services.

The town’s mayor, Cornelia Iiyambula, says local community members have attested to the positive impact of President Geingob’s efforts, particularly in the areas of rural development and access to clean drinking water.

“He has left a profound impact on our nation and its people. As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate his life and the indelible mark he has left on the history of Namibia. His vision and unwavering commitment to Namibia and her well-being will continue to guide us for years to come.”

The late President Hage Geingob’s legacy in the Okahao constituency extends beyond infrastructure and basic amenities.

In a speech read on his behalf by Vice Chairperson of the Ongandjera Traditional Authority, Kristofina Kainde, Omukwaanilwa gwa Ngandjera Johanness Mupiya says Geingob is remembered as a hero whose contributions will forever be embedded in Namibia’s history.

“We are thankful for the distinguished work he has done for us throughout his tenure. He was indeed selfless, and it is evident through the tangible development emanating from his contributions to the nation pre- and post-independence.”

The town’s residents also paid tribute through a street procession leading to Okahao ElCIN Parish, where the evening memorial was hosted.
