The Omaheke football and netball regional teams have been meeting every Tuesday over the past couple of weeks to update each other on preparations for the 2024 Nedbank Namibian Newspaper Cup.
The region is going to play host to the 22nd edition of the youth tournament at Gobabis this weekend.
The head coach of the Omaheke football team, Edwalt Kavirombo, says the two teams communicate with each other on a daily basis to keep up with developments in either camp, as well as plan activities to keep in high spirits.
“We share the little we can and even had a team-building event last Saturday to make sure the boys and girls were pulling in one direction,” he says.
This is echoed by Omaheke netball team manager Maureen Geingos, who says the teams meet every Tuesday and Thursday to keep each other updated on developments.
“Both teams are fully committed,” she says.
Both Geingos and Kavirombo expresses confidence in doing well in the tournament, especially with their home-ground advantage.
Both teams have been training for over a month, with the football team having started preparations on 11 January.
