NAMIBIAN police in Onaanda, Omusati Region, have arrested a 73-year-old suspect after a local traditional leader was fatally stabbed on Monday evening.
Tobias Nangolo Shetunyenga, the 59-year-old headman of Omuhenye village, reportedly died instantly after being stabbed by the suspect for no apparent reason.
The police stated that the suspect and the victim were drinking together at the Epama shebeens around 19:00 when, suddenly, the suspect stood up, produced a traditional knife, and stabbed the deceased once in the neck.
Eyewitnesses informed the police that the two had neither quarrelled nor engaged in any argument.
“The motive behind the stabbing is still unknown,” stated the police.
The suspect is in custody and will appear in court in due course.
