IN assisting government efforts during the construction of the school hall, the Ondangwa Town Council contributed bricks to Shinime Shiivula Primary School valued at over N$20,000.
Chief Executive Officer Ismael Namgongo said that they were approached by the school leadership the year before requesting assistance, which they deemed fitting to provide.
Namgongo indicated that as a council, they took a decision to help where they can in order for the school to complete this project.
“We believe this hall will help learners in their development and also benefit the Ondangwa community whenever they have meetings in the area,” he said.
He added that as a town council, they support the development of such infrastructure in town and will also use this hall for their outreach community meetings from time to time, hence their support.
School principal Oskar Kashululu indicated that the school is being constructed in phases to ensure completion.
Kashululu stressed that the biggest challenge they currently face is finding places to hold events like parents’ meetings when it’s hot outside and raining.
Additionally, he indicated that the school hall will benefit the entire neighbourhood, not just the school.
The school has a population of over 980 learners and offers education from Pre-primary to Grade 7.
