Last week, One Economy Foundation (ONE) hosted its 8th Annual Fundraising Gala Dinner at the Windhoek Country Club and Resort in Windhoek and managed to raise N$4.2 million surpassing the N$4 million dollar target that was set.
The contributions received will play a significant role in advancing the Foundation’s mission and positively impacting the lives of the youth in Namibia.
This year, the event was hosted under the theme “Partnering on our Next” which highlighted the launch of the #BeFree Youth Campus; a multifaceted facility that serves as an opportunity to collaborate and further serve the young people of Namibia.
The evening was graced by the presence of the guest of honour President Hage G. Geingob and brought together high-level dignitaries, as well as partners, funders and guests in support of ONE’s mission to lessen the economic divide.
Geingob, in particular, contributes a portion of his monthly remuneration towards education and the social upliftment of Namibians through the Hage Geingob Endowment Fund which is administered and run by ONE.
The programme featured Mrs Monica Geingos (FLON), speakers from the One Economy Foundation management team, a youth-led fireside chat, and various performing artists. Speaking during her keynote address, FLON said that the launch of the #BeFree Youth Campus on 1 September 2023 was the beginning of a new season for the One Economy Foundation. She further explained that “The #BeFree Youth Campus was built to house a spectrum of integrated services, meant to focus on multiple issues because young people rarely experience single issue problems”.
To end her address, FLON extended heartfelt appreciation to the cherished stakeholders, donors, partners and friends, whose goodwill is the cornerstone of the impactful work carried out by the One Economy Foundation.
As the evening concluded, it was evident that the ONE family stood united in their dedication to shaping a better future for the youth of Namibia. In his closing remarks, Festus Mukungu, Director at ONE, expressed gratitude for the generosity and support that contributed to the success of the 8th Annual Fundraising Gala Dinner. He further thanked and showed appreciation to Dr Hage G. Geingob for his long-standing contribution to the One Economy Foundation. “This Foundation is here to stay for a very long time,” said Mukungu, hinting at the #BeFree Youth Campus’ potential to impact the lives of young people for generations to come.
